Is anyone in this city sick of the flooded parking lot. For the last 20 million years that area has been flooding, do you think in the last twenty years we should have done something about it. The city cleans it off about 10 times a year. {at our expense + you pay to park} Let me run it down for you.......
Normal river level 16 feet
Average river level 17 feet
Wharf flood level 18 feet
Average high water 22 feet
Flood stage 25 feet
Summary:
Raise the parking surface above 22 feet and you will not have to close and clean it every other week. {at our expense} It's not like big trucks drive on it.
Did you know:
The wharf was once a sloped cobble stone area that could stand flooding and still be useful. The designers of the parkway and those that approved the plans are the people who screwed future generations of Pittsburghers. Please remember that when they pitch something new. Let the river go above 22 feet and they have to close the parkway. {at the time it would have added about .0001 % to the costs not to have the road flooded}
